The beginning of Passing Out dates back to 1993 when Greg Rouse first started delivering cafe posters and leaflets to support the arrival of art house films at The Mercury Cinema in Adelaide. By targeting distribution to the genre of the movies, he was able to develop an extensive and unique distribution database. He then got into street publications - distributing magazines such as Rip It Up, Onion, Inner Self and The Adelaide Review. Greg Rouse was formerly involved in the advertising industry for seventeen years. Starting with Messenger Newspapers he then went on to become a founding partner of Adelaides biggest media company, Hastwell Williamson Rouse. During this period he also lectured Advertising and Promotion at what is now the University Of South Australia. Greg is also the former treasurer of Young Media Australia. Greg then became the marketing manager for Tango P/L a company who produced drinkware to the Australian hospitality industry and exported to 17 countries. The combination of Gregs extensive experience in advertising and hospitality was the basis on which Passing Out Distribution was developed.
